The Lucky Day Mine is a gold and copper mine located in San Bernardino, California and once owned by Wyatt Earp. Wyatt Earp is probably to most infamous gun fighter and law man who worked all across the western United States including Alaska.
Like many other Americans of the time, Wyatt Earp and his brothers worked their way across the United States. The started businesses, worked in bars, owned mines and served as law men. In short, despite the Earp’s notoriety, they did what they needed to do in order to make a living.
Later in life, Wyatt and his wife Josephine travelled up to Alaska before returning to the desert of southern California. In the Mojave, they found several mining claims in the Whipple mountains including the “Happy Days”, “Copper Accident”, “Colorado”, “Cave”, “Giant”, “Hercules”, “Happy Day”, and “Lucky Day”. These mines were spread out over about four miles west of the Colorado River, near Parker Arizona.
